And so...it begins...

wow, that is pretty impressive. aside from the dominate monopoly Adobe is aiming towards, the fact that they signed a deal to do this w/ a non-GSM provider is very interesting.
i still hate verizon and their service.

oh well, I think it's a good thing. Making web apps in flash for the mobile market. I think it opens a lot of doors for some handy mobile apps.

too bad it's with verizon, they blow.
- version30
far from blows
"Verizon Wireless, the second largest U.S. wireless provider...
...the agreement will make Verizon the first wireless operator in the United States to offer mobile phones with built-in Flash technology."

I've never had a bad thing with verizon wireless. I hear other parts of the country does. But midwest is solid. cingular is crap from my exp.
- jevad0
I have the other experience - verizon total shit - cingular ace.
"oh well, I think it's a good thing. Making web apps in flash for the mobile market. "
Mark my words...everyone's gonna be asking for it when other carriers pick it up.
And as soon as MVNOs like Amp'd and HELIO get it on it, shit's going to blow up...

I totally agree jevad. the current product I'm working on already has a web version along with the product itself, they're already talking about a WAP application. If we can just do it in flash like the rest of the project... its a wrap.
I see an entire market opening for widget type apps.
I just hope they push flash lite 2, then it will be at least flash 7 capable.

Bang on! I think we're gonna start mucking about with it here and see what we can come up with.

you guys should, nic. i helped build an complete data-driven app for mobile devices about 6 months ago w/ Flash lite and it is pretty farkin sweet.
it is pretty device-dependent (at least w/ the data connectivity bit) but it ran aweosme. is being used on a fleet of 30 boats as we speak intensly. good luck mang
