+ nice one doddster, yeah I maanged to save up a wee bit of cash but you're so right, it takes a long time to start getting a regular income...But its worth it for sure.

yeah mate, but you'll get used to it. if you put 20% away of everything you get paid to cover yourself when your tax bill comes in, you'll be right.
i just paid my first return and it stung big time so keep that in mind. plus you do payment on account, which is half of what your bill is this year on top towards next year. that very nearly caught me out.
thats assuming you're in the UK btw, just realised I hadn't checked on your site!

Yeah man I'm based in Glasgow at the moment but I'm moving to London in a few months perhaps. I'm not looking forward to the tax business, but thanks for the advice, very useful!

If you freelance do you have to register yourself as a compnay for tax?
- doddster0
you have to register with IR yeah to make your NI contributions.
thats also the case if you're freelancing outside of a full time job. you can be full time employed by a company, and self employed, at the same time.
NI is like £8 a month or something, plus a top up with your return each year.

anyone got any experience with working tax credits?

i didn't realise you can be fulltime employed as well as freelance.... (officially freelance I mean!) Most of my previous bosses would have flipped out if they knew i was freelancing after offic hours...

Hey Stuff, how did you enjoy your time in falmouth? I went there too, or years overlapped as well - did you ever go to Polar Bear at Paradox? That was my night.
good luck with the Freelance, I am thinking of doing the same soon.

Hey Wolfboy, don't think I did but i definetly remember Paradox. There was something not quite right about that nightclub! (Apart from the booze being silly cheap of course)
