hey folks,
is it possible in flash to make a form, like an email form for example, where the user fill-out its name, address, etc, and submit it to an email address.. BUT- this flash is not a flash site, it is a flash presentation, on a CD, so the flash itself is not connected to a server.
any help?
thanks,soulfly

not sure how it would send the mail.

Yeah usually you need a PHP/ASP page to handle the variables from the fields and email it out server side.
Only thing I can think of is getURL using mailto: but that will launch their email program, not email for them. Interesting thought. I'd love to knwo how from a CD.

without a direct connection to the interweb, your efforts are fruitless.

unless you hooked it up to a laptop that had a DB on it and then transferred it or whatever...

like everyone else said above... you're gonna have to connect to the interwww to do anything w/the data.

yes -
the computer of the user will be connected to the web.
the only difference is that instead of opening a website, this flash presentation will be loaded from a CD, like a .exe file.so is it possible for a submit form to work from a .exe flash file loaded or ran from a CD? Assuming the person is connected to the net?

as long as the 'submit' button is scripted to jump out on the web - grab a php mail form or whatever... so it can transmit the variables and let the script on the server parse it and do whatever with it.
In theory - it should be super-simple as long as you have some php or something to submit the data too (on the web)...

When you're offline you will be able to send emails only to yourself, and i only know of such a thing when you're a apple user. If you have web connection simply use the regular way via getURL or loadVariables
