Greetings all,
is it possible in PS CS2 to create an action to resize an image based on its longest side?
ie. if width 400 size to 250 on that side, or if height 400 size the image to 250 on that side?
Cheers.

Found this if anyone else ever needs it:

Haven't tried it yet though

Not sure if this is what you are asking, but have you tried double-clicking an Action droplet to bring up the Options window? (lets you choose to size by width, height or both)
- ribit0
oops..not the droplet... the 'Resize Image' part of the Action...it has an options dialog..

what if you just use the crop too and enter 400 (or whatever you want) as the width?
is this even what you're asking?

whoa that's a super useful script, man. good find.
I was going through images (over 200+) and dropping them into a "wider" and "taller" folder.
this makes much more sense.karma comin your way.

but you dont need the script if all you are doing is resizing to the same length either height or width... (its an option in Image Ready at least) ... or are you doing something else?
- ribit0
for stuff that PS can't do, you can also use iView Media Pro to automatically select by tall vs wide, then run any iView or helper application script on each..

if there's any consistency to the size of teh images you want to batch, you can resize using the resolution in image size/ doc size to hit the px dimension you want.
make sense.. ?

does anyone read the questions in here? ;)

or use that handy-dandy script already posted.

it resizes to a max longest edge irrespective of whether the image is portrait or landscape?
- horton0
sure... say images are all 500x800 and 800x500 (72px/ inch)...
if you resize by dropping the resolution in doc size to 36px/ inch, then your px dimensions will be 250x400 or 400x250.
