I'm getting married in a resort in Mexico this month. Therefore I have no choice but to use the resorts wedding photographer. Is there any direction I can give him to make sure I get a few great shots?
This is his portfolio...

is it just me or are some of them blurry? a few also look posterized. I barely even took a good look at his style because the quality seems a bit low.

Thanks, I'm really worried that we're paying for nothing with this guy. My dad is a fairly descent photographer, but I can't very well ask him to concentrate on pictures instead of the wedding. The best I can hope for is that this guy has a good day, or maybe I can give him some pointers...

Your pictures will be a VERY important keepsake of your wedding. I'd see what the likelihood is of paying a photographer or student's way to mexico. they may offer a discount or something because of the trip or because it gives them an exotic location for their portfolio. Or ask some NTers in that area if they know of anyone. Don't mess with this.

by 'student" i mean one whose work you like.

You think I'd have to spring for the hotel as well? I mean, paying for the flight is one thing, but I'm not handing out vacations here. Gives me something to think about anyway.

We cut out our flower budget (other than bouquets, boutineres and a corsage for my grandma) because my papa has a phobia of flying, stinging insects and the deck our ceremony was on was over a wetlands anyway. We put the money into getting the photographer we really wanted that we first thought was out of our budget. Is some re-arranging possible?

Try and get most of your shots taken in the shade, under a tree, etc.
not in direct sunlight, and not indoors.
shooting in the shade will help you alot.
Congrats and have fun!

An amazing wedding photographer is worth their weight in gold. friends' photos couldn't even begin to compare. Besides, after a certain point, many people put the camera down and enjoy themselves.
here's who we used
