Just got a quote for a client, but he thinks its REAL expensive, anyone know how I can justify it?
heres the spec:
A3 Leaflet
Printed full colour both sides on
300gsm Silk
Matt Laminated to both sides
Die Cut & folded in 2 places
Qty : 10000 + 10000R/OIts coming in at like £2000 for ten thousand, which I thought was alright. Anyone else had this or know how I can cut the cost without decreasing the quality?

go with 250g paper, the client can't tell the difference
but it's a pretty go price overall

That's pretty good, why not get another cost to compare it with.

looks good to me. does your client realize the extra costs involved with a die cut?

get the printer to itemize the qoute - so the client can see what's costing him what.

what radar said,
sounds like a good quote though.
die cutting and folding and matt lam etc.
get another quote to compare.
OR
Ask your client how much they expected to pay. Tell the printer that amount and ask what processes they can remove to meet that price.
You can then show the client one version with all the bells and whistles (ie die cuts etc) and one pared down version that's more simple.
The client will then see the reasons for the price difference and pay up.

Thanks for your responses guys, i got a couple other quotes, one printer quoting £2500 and thats without folding as the machine they have cant fold flyers that thick so we would have to hand fold 10000 leaflets!!! I think the cost is basically buying 10000 sheets of a3 and the matt lam!
The form is going to be pretty good and its also got a hole drilled through it, so I think its pretty cheap! Ill post a pic when I persuade him to print it!!!

£0.2 each
how the hell can he think that is expensive with all the work on each sheet.
fucking cheapskate

Tell me about it, but arent all clients? I hope he goes for it though, I hate it when clients go for cheap options!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

doesn't sound bad to me...
I'm in the middle of a nightmare right now trying to get the cost down on this project without ruining it's brilliance in format, that came in at €17,000 for like 4000 pieces :(
Printing was only €2000, the rest of the cost is in all the handwork...

Its just the client cant justify how much it costs, when he picks up other print examples that costs a lot cheaper and says why cant we get it at this price!
he has gone to the actual printer to get some samples before he spends that amount of money, personally I think the quote is cheap
- rasko40
if you are not marking it up I dont even know why you are getting quotes for him anyway
- MichaelFelt0
haha, yeah I dont know if we are or not?
but this job is slowly turning into a pain in the arse with no end in sight!
well ill have more info when the client has finished his chat with the printer! WHY!
