Does anyone have an idea of what's going on with Freehand and Illustrator, now that Adobe buyed Macromedia? Will they make a "mix" of both and make a super software???

I'm hoping so, I have been a freehand user for years and am switching to illustrator, but I still revert to freehand for drawing certain things as its so much more intuitive and has features that illustrator does not, the control of type is much better for instance, pasting inside rather than clipping paths makes for much better aligning, aligning individual points is possible, multiple pages etc etc... hopefully they merge the est of both

Do you think Adobe might be tempted to just ditch Freehand and go with the "well you can use inDesign for multiple pages" etc line of chat? hope not - I mainly use Illy and always have, but still Freehand proves useful a lot of the time...

I think freehand is being discontinued as its the only software not included in the macromedia studio, and I have only heard about new versions of illustrator on the horizon rather than freehand, but i would imagine they will put elements of freehand into a new illustrator. :P

maybe freehand had certain nice features patented and now adobe can finally use these in illy.
well i hope they don't just trash it.

take all the good stuff from freehand and then trash it

one thing is for sure - both apps need to sort out shit like getting transparency and other effects to work properly in print rather than just on screen, these are constant issues and prove to be a pain in the ass. Dragging new swatched on top of others to replace colours is another thing that illy needs.

I agree on that rasko

there's probably somewhere a petition that geeks have organised re FH things to be included in Illy.
probably.
