hmm... i'm not sure if i should go for it cos i'm hoping it will allow me to run Final Cut Pro 5

dont' do it. it will still have 167mhz frontside bus (if i did not read that wrong there) and a slow harddrive.
sell it, with that money+the 500 you will have a good start for a faster laptop.
btw I have the 667dvi TiBook and I wouldnt do it..
