fot those who don't like the dream sequences, imagine how much less epic, how much less the hero's journey, how much less "purgatorio" Tony's return from the underworld would have been without it

Something tells me it's just a wordplay, Kev-INFINITY. I'm totally feelin the Joseph Cambell-esque hero/antihero journey thing juxtaposed to the "cheesy" Hollywood ganster/zombie/slasher story that Chris and Carmine are writing.

From last week's Burroughs montage: "The Ancient Egyptians postulated seven souls. Top soul and the first to leave at the moment of death is Ren, the Secret Name. This corresponds to my Director. He directs the film of your life from conception to death. The Secret Name is the title of your film. When you die, that's where Ren comes in."
Also worth noting from Burroughs: "Number four is Ba, the Heart, often treacherous."
The Asian doctor, who Meadow was second-guessing for not giving Tony the right drugs, is named Dr Ba.
