interesting point there, winter. however, you can be as talented as you want to without actually knowing the basics and story behind stuff.
and besides, i want to learn. everybody can get a job, too.

yeah, it looks amazing. do you know if its hard to get in? hyper island is a very similar school so would be cool to have both of them in my cv.
- tkmeister0
if hper island and fabrica is very similar, i don't see the point of doing both. it's always interesting to have something completely different.
also, just because you get a job, doesn't mean you stop learning. i learn something new everyday.

stands for ironic comments around here. i hope.

(Mar 26 06, 13:21)uhhh, yeah- it "would be cool."
but no, they are definitly different. basically, every single thing you considered, created or did at Hyper would be considered "student" at Fabrica. i am not saying that Fabirca would consider itself 'better' than hyper by any means- just that you really are thinking on your own and exploring new creative via a "real" project(s). it is the big leagues for sure, but all done in the protected environment of a structured learning institution.
i would honestly give just about anything to go to Fabrica.

// it's amazing how people still want to be a designer... must be a craving for funny sneakers.

tkmeister. of course, in the right environment you always learn with good people around you!
madirish: hope you didnt misunderstand me, i didnt mean "cool" in the true sense, more that it would be an amazing oppurtinity.
and yes, i do think they are different, but they also have some of the same points of view, but thats all about the schools philosphy.
when do i know if i get in? hope its not 4-5 months, couldnt have handled the suspense.

cool, cuidada. i figured you would read into that a bit as i know Hyper does a great job of training people for post school, ect.
i am not sure how long the review period is, but i would guess it is a couple of months. have you already applied?
- backwards0
hyperisland isn't a design school
- winter0
i'd go further than backwards,
we don't need any more trainees from design schools. we need people that makes different stuff.
- cuidado0
backwards:
no, but its widely known because of its designers. i also specialized in design so thats why i wrote what i did.
madirish: havent applied just yet, will need to polish my portfolio and my application, and also get letter of recommendation from my AD and head manager at hyper!
wish me luck, though!

my comment wasn't directed to you, it was to the person who listed it as a design school.
and if you want to really study design, fabrica isn't the right place either.
- cuidado0
backword: you are free to list some interesting schools! would be helpful!
- horton0
i replied with the ECIAD admission dates if you are still interested.
- cuidado0
yeah, thanks man, found them too now. looks like the north american apply dates are waay to early and it costs loads of money to go to those schools! 11,000 a year for an overseas student is a bit too much.
- backwards0
i would look into the european schools if i were you.
Central St Martins in London
Gerrit Rietveld in Amsterdam
Willem De Kooning in Rotterdamare a few notables...
- winter0
yes, go to holland if you really like design as think-tank.

What about the Werkplaats Typographie in Arnhem, NL. I know it is pretty exclusive, but in addition to it being a suggestion, I was also wondering if anyone else knows more about it. I know it's a graduate program and they do real world practical projects w/ clients (ex: OASE magazine), and it's run by Karel Martens + Armand Mevis, but other than that I don't know much about the other stype of work they do, and how much of it is research/theory vs. practical work.
