anyone in the morning crew have ideas on this?

set your background as a movieclip in flash. then use stage width and stage height to control the size of it. fairly simple maths should keep it in proportion.

set the size(proportions) with flash and then use the
wmode="transparent"
property when you embedd the flash into yr page. this means you will see any images behind the flash

blaw, check the site on my profile for all of the html parameters when embedding flash. it works like your describing but scales to the max instead of being proporational.

i really didn't like my lunch today.

set the html width and height to 100% and do the scaling in flash.
or use javascript to set the widths in html which could be a pain
