    Afternoon!

Just wondering what the general opinion is regarding giving clients the original fla file for projects.

There is no contract in place (which is a whole seperate issue) so nothing stating what the client gets.

This is just speculation on my part - and just trying to workout how I stand should they ask for the files.

should they ask am I within my rights to tell them they will have to pay for the flas? my age and the three noughts on the end!!!! ha ha ha

    Anyone had any experience?

I don't give my clients the fla file.

If they then need an update they will come back this way. Just the same as I wouldn't give them the fonts I use. Or any of my skills unless, of course, they paid for them.

Would you give a client html, css, any of that? would you give a client everything (back up and research)?

If they want it, price it - and make sure you consider any loss of work you may have had from them for updates etc if youd have kept it.

I would sell em a mac, a copy of flash, the fla, and train em to update it themselves if they paid me the correct fee for that!
