You have to understand that I don't own or listen to mcFly. I've been listening to Bach's piano concerto in D Minor all morning as I'm recording some Bach piano pieces at the moment.
All I'm saying is that I respect someone who has spent years learning how to play an instrument well, over someone who sits in their bedroom playing with drum machines.
Through learning an instrument you learn lots about music theory and structure. Therefore in my opinion if you can play an instrument well then you are more interesting than those who can't
Having said that Bod Dylan couldn't play or sing for shit but he wrote great songs (or rather lyrics) it took hendrix to make all along the watchtower sound good, the content was there though

Baskerville, I also admire someone who can play an instrument, its difficult and hurts the ends of your fingers sometimes, but I still have way more respect for many drum machine fiddlers than McFly. Personal tastes aside, give me the musicality of Richard D James over those little fannies any time.

I find the concept of 'respecting' someone who can play their own instruments about as pointless as giving someone an 'A' for effort.
It's short sided and futile, and simply encourages people to continue to put out garbage.

thank Kelpie, don't know how I ended up defending maroon 5 or McFly. I've had discussions with my younger sister about how they are both shit! Oh well, I felt someone needed to stand up for them today!
