I am working on some cross-platform UI stuff currently and im just curious what everyone thinks about the importance (non-importance) of using native OS controls. Does something that uses the aqua interface on OS-X feel better than a custom UI set? Does is differ in window/fullscreen apps? I would appreciate your comments.

depends on peoples likes... most often, pc developers tend to replace the ugly buttons by css styled/image inputs; from my experience, default OS buttons are mostly reccomended becuse of user's intuition. on a graphic dessigner point of view, I prefer customized. It's all about your target client/audience.

kodap, my question is whether a desktop app should use the native OS controls, or can it get away with using custom ones? I guess a good example of the latter would be something like ZBrush
