The sad fact is that the US is in a war now to secure it's shaky future. If it plays its cards right, it will be the world's banker and lawyer. Otherwise it will end up like Australia, but cold and with a shitload of guns. Imagine Escape from LA but without Snake Pliskin.
The problem is that the current administration is inept at proper nation building, is too greedy, has too many corrupt connections, treats its people as taxpayers rather than as citizens, and is completely, obviously a sham that will go down as either one of the wisest or as the shitiest administrations so far Whatever the outcome, the current Repulicans, starting in the Cold War and carrying on as a tide today will be known as the party of Cardboard Presidents.
For a young nation, we're off to a shaky start. If only the assholes would employ non-war historians. Old guys who know how things have been done.
It wouldn't hurt to have a liberal elite that is dedicated to democracy rather than name dedications. The current lot is a group of shitsacks who run on the fear of losing their fortunes, either earned or bequethed. They will be even more terrified when the poor revolt. The rich will not see the irony in the fact that they tend not to keep arms.
On the plus side, some people actually give a shit and know that kids are the future. Even though I hate to admit it, the hippies are needed. Too bad too full of the self-satisfaction brought on by a whole food diet.
It's time for a guerilla information skirmish.

maybe the problem is that the common american spends way too much resources like no one else in the known universe: electricity, gas, petrol, etc.
that's the real problem. politics degrade from what people do and the effort to sustain that. major changes can only happen if habits change and not if the government changes.
