i want to get a mac also but I was just wondering right now the admobe and macromedia suites tend to run abit slow. Well the new versions be optimized for the INTEL chip or designed bacially for the INTEL chip and then the other none intel macs will run it slowly. Seems like an odd time to buy a mac.

they won't release one in the near future, the challenge was bigger than they expected.

isn't this the next gen. laptop?

yeah the macbook pro is the G5 powerbook.... i agree seems like a bad time to buy a mac unless you are looking for G4 powerbooks and G5 towers can prob get a good deal since the intels are out and the G5 tower intels will be out soon as well..

What's everyone talking about a "G5 laptop"? There is no G5 laptop, the new MacbookPro is Intel only.
The iBook and PowerBooks stopped at G4 chips.

wait you just said G5 intel towers.. that makes no sense

People have been wanting the G5 Laptop. Apple wont come out with a G5 Laptop, instead they came out with the Macbook Pro with the Intel. People here were talking about how the G5 laptop is your Macbook pro because the macbook pro is essentially what everyones been talking about
"PowerBook G5"= Macbook Pro
...but not really, since MacBook Pro is an Intel.

The "Intel-based G5" is how CNN refers to the new iMac. I found this amusing and confusing.

The G5 is consumer name for the PPC970 processor
Apple will no longer be using these processors in new machines, and has retired them from everything but the current PowerMacs.
The next Powermacs will run higher-end desktop processors, possibly the 'Merom' processor
The new Macbook Pro is a suitable (if not better) replacement for the impossible G5 Powerbook
The G5 just ran too hot to put in a laptop.
The Macbook Pro is extremely fast and will blow previous machines out of the water if you are running native software.
