I have a brand new 17 laptop with all the goodies. Ive been having a problem with my ill cs. Ive been opening documents and soon as I move or zoom my object turn into preview mode and I get a pop up saying "cant finish previewing to complex reduce window size". Problem is the drawing isnt complex. Its just a template we use to design outerwear for our company. Is it ill or something with my computer very frustrating!
any thoughts

if the laptop is up to snuff, it shouldn't be happening unless your RAM is bunk or maybe your HD/ Scratch disk is 95% full.. ?

how do u empty your scratch disk?

-Turn Virtual Memory on.
heheh!!

with 1 disk in a laptop your HD is the Scratch.
you can check what AI is using for Scratch space in prefs.
it should never be anywhere near full... with just the one disk keep it under 80% i'd say.

epill you gotta get off the OS9 tip.

curious who are you designing for... Sessions is designed in SoCal - no?
- session0
which pref would I find it under.....thanks horton!

under illustrator/ preferences/ scratch disks
you have to scroll thru the prefs in illy to get to the scratch disks pref...its in its own dialog box.

Illustrator > Prefs > Plug-Ins & Scratch.
might be slightly diff in Windows (?)
not saying this is forsure the solution.. but quickest way to know would be; how full is your disk?

I live up in Tahoe designing for a local ski company called Predator. You can find our website at www.predatorwear.com! I just started a little over 8 months ago as a graphic designer but have moved into designing the ski wear which I am loving! I can wait to see the finished product in 07/08! fired up.....by the way we are getting dumped on. expecting over 2 feet

I went theyre and I have two boxes saying primary and secondary! Where would it say how full it is?

check get info on your HD (scratch disk)
but mostly this is a ram problem, just not enough
scratch disk errors are mostly when saving a file
- horton0
the pref just lets you pick what disk you want to use as scratch space.
if you have just 1 disk then the scratch is your main drive.
... so how full is your computer?

finding out how much room is left on the hard drive is like asking mr owl how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop...
horton may never know...

and guarantee you its the first thing Applecare will ask.
