how can i change a directory so that it becomes visible/browsable?
it is forbidden by default.
changing permissions of the directory did not help..
pls?

do you mean a directory you made or one that was their from day one?
you can usually browse up beyond the root dir that you connect to through ftp

Making directories browsable:
Create a text file, in notepad or other plain text editor
Type this line (it is case sensitive):
Options +Indexes
Save this file with the name ".htaccess" (note the leading "." character)
Upload this file to the directory on your (ss) Shared-Server that you wish to make browsable.

seems odd that it is forbidden by default, maybe the name of the dir is the same as a forbidden dir elsewhere and thats why it defaults??
