Ok, so I'm setting up my GF with her new DSL connection and I told her she needs an antivirus, anyone knows of a good one that's free?

for global OS virus protection, nothing seems to be free.
start her w/ adaware SE personal, but this isn't full protection.

I use AVAST pro, isn't free but is really easy to crack with a dodgy serial. Think AVG is free and that's meant to be good.

Use adaware for spyware, and sygate personal firewall .

I have broadband at home and use Norton and never had a virus. My virus protection expired once and i figured it was no big deal. a week later I got one that jacked my desktop started infecting it with all sorts of shit. I resubscribed for $25 and immediately it was fixed. Its worth the money, especially after you think your about to lose everything on your system.

The AVG is very good. Ther's also a free edition:

yeah AdAware is really good from Sweden. Microsoft Anti-virus Beta is also good.
