tcp/ip is where you can manually set your IP address, or have it pick one up automatically if your router has a DHCP server.
what are trying to do exactly?

im trying to dl stuff (music) from site which limits dls, so i wana see if i can change my ip so i can milk ask much as i can.

oooh... you want to change your public IP. that's different.
if you have dynamic IP through your ISP (which is probably the case) you can change your public IP by turning your modem off and back on again.

oh ok, yea thats what i thought.
thanks dude!

on adsl however you can't for as far as i know. your isp assigned one single IP to you for the full period of your subscription.
You cannot change that unless you call your ISP and arrange something.
anyway, another way is setting up a proxy, so you can trick a server into thinking you come from a different IP.

some ISPs give you multiple IPs...I had 8 on last ISP...but even that wont last you long...

what about going through a proxy server like proxify.com or hidemyass.com? Is it blocked?

nothing like bumping a 10/yo thread.

- is it possible to share an IP with another machine?bklyndroobeki

- that would disrupt the space time continuummoldero
- ^ lol. damn. fair enoughbklyndroobeki
- Hold on, you can share an IP as long as both devices never occupy the same space. This is to avoid a paradox. Otherwise, you're good.ETM
