Don't think there is anything that works with the logo, don't like the typography or symbol. Sorry mate.

if you're looking to push it further, try not skewing the thistle icon. I'm not quite getting "music" from the logo. Maybe play with the thistle more. I can see a microphone in there but maybe not. I dunno, just keep at it.

not sure what that symbol is or what it has to do wit hscottish music, also the curvy font just doesnt do it for me. when i think of Scottland i think of a harsh sounding language that is strict and tough very masculine, not smooth curvy feminine.
the font you chose, to me it needs to be hard.
when creating logos, dont get stuck on one idea...you need to flesh out the idea...create 50 diffrent versions, 50 different ideas.
looks like you did 1 and kept going with just one...

Cheers for comments.
I'm not happy with it either. I need it to be traditional; music-y (although it's slightly old-fashioned music); and that is the colour I need to use...
Although it's a traditional service, I really wanted a more contemporary logo, they want to not be seen as fuddy duddies.
You think the thistle should just stay normal?

also going back and re-looking at it, the [3 dots] above the letter 'i' is bothering me as well. its separates itself from the rest of the design causing 3 separate focal points on the eyes taking the view away from the actual logo itself.
use a different font.

Pretty much true. I done one, which was the skewed thistle (they had a thistle in their logo previously) and then just played with that.
The music is fairly "beautiful" though, according to the owners of the site, and I can't really have a harshness...
Back to the drawing board...

Would it be wrong to just remove the dots in photoshop??

the font itself is what bothers me. its very kiddie looking something that i would see on childrens wear clothing or children toys.
also the 'thistle' is skewed to the left pointing out that way but the fonts are flowing to the right making the 'thistle' and the 'verbage' going in separate directions.
i would take away the skew.

for a font change, try using 'Creampuff Regular' it has a similar style, but the letters are connected.

Okay 2 things..
One the one I think this more of a base starting point. I think the layout could be a bit more dynamic and perhaps the icon could come forward as more musical or scottish even. Just give me something basic that seems to infer something about the topic you are talking about.
Second, from a design savvy trend perspective, I think you could mod it up. Give it a contemporary feel. The topic you have doesn't necessarily need to feel so folky. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has one of the best musical treatments I think I've ever seen.
Peep it:
All in all good work. Give it another version or two though. See what comes up.

Hey maybe size down the icon, seems way to large and competes with the main logotype.

I can't tell what that symbol is at all. This doesn't say music at all, there's no grace or composure or energy, and the symbol is just angry and wants everyone to die.

lol, couldn't have worded it more vivid then i-monk did...

Break out a pencil and paper.
You need to start from scratch.

Caber tossing is one of the most useless sports there is.
As for the logo. No. Drop the mark and please don't skew. Have tried other ideas perhaps use just the initials??
