I am wanting to create fresher modern work, I have loads of ideas in my head but I can't express them. I am in a dead end job at the moment, mail order GRRR!
What advice can you give me, to get clients. So I can express my true design.

seek out some clients in the area you are interested in.
get involved.

write your own briefs, get the work on a website, market yourself.

Don't seek the clients if you haven't got the break out work, At best you'll get more of the same, at worst you'll flounder. (Like a writer strives to find their 'voice', observe work you like, possibly imitate at first ( but don't get used to making this a habit ). Try to establish what work you would like to do , who does it and how it is done. Set yourself projects to take a step towards these. Do it now! little by little and you will get out of your rut if you keep a longterm view, GOODLUCK

Do work for your pals for fuck all or very little, but do good work. Put the hours in. Find a charity do work for them. Just do anything that will build up your portfolio.
Then maybe get some work at an agency and do work for them for very little. Then, someday, if your lucky, you can strike out on your own with a good portfolio behind you.
