css nav problems

Hi I have posted this problem before and I am trying a different solution (thanks J). But I'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem before:
http://localhost/oegen/test.htm
The smaller font size 0.7em (or anything below 1em) gives the navigation a small space to the bottom (which I don't want). But the font size 1em does not. This seems to be a problem in i.e. In FF it is ok.
Anyone know why this is?
Cheers all.

How can we view a page on your localhost????

yeah tried all sorts. It makes no difference.
Anything below 16px or 12pt gives the same white space problem.

ul#mainnav li

display: inline
}Inline instead of Block.

I've had the problem of IE adding an extra margin before. I don't recall the solution atm. Just experiment with diferent things if you have time. Try not giving the nav anchors a height and control the height only with padding.

inkyhands,
is there any particular reason you are using em? If you are wanting all text sizes to be relative, and are putting in a "smaller/larger text" button, it makes sense, otherwise, use px. It is more precise. You can control the design a lot better. otherwise it is so unpredictable.
but, the line-height thing could work...or you might just want to try padding:0px; and margin:0px;
rock on. let us know how it goes.

I changed display:block in ul#mainnav li, to display:inline and it works fine.
