is the rumor that Paul Rand used to (though rarely) design
on a PC rather than a Mac atually true???? any other top designers use PCs out there???

Is it that big a deal?
I use both, but mainly design on a PC and us the Mac for Music & Video.

its not what you use, its what you produce
i seen alot of good setups but no great work

nah.. Paul Rand worked through his glory days on a NeXT box.

.... or maybe it was just the logo he worked on ;)

I hear some people use pencils and paper.

oh wow. he was on unix. cool. of course its not your setup that matters but it is somewhat telling of the attitude towards 'equipment'.
in the future people will study how different software and operating systems affect our psyhe -- i guarantee it.

Yeah I thought he was mostely traditional tools. Dosn't really matter what platform he used anyways. If you look at the photographs of Paul Rand's house and home studio from "Paul Rand: Modernist Designer" there is no computer.
If he did this may be some indication although anyone could be a poster boy for any company.

i heard he pierced his eyes with knitting needles :(

apparently his price for the NeXT logo was $100,000.. so I'm thinking its safe to assume Steve Jobs also flowed him a computer or two.

Honestly, it's very doubtful that Rand even used a computer.
He probably had lackies that would move the mouse around for him.
