I could use a little help...
I am putting together a tour poster for a band and building it in Illustrator.
I am trying to give the overall piece a the look of an old poster... kind of beat up and speckled... not all sharp lines and perfect color.
The only time I have done something like this in the past I have gone in and drawn specks to put on he piece but I figure therehas to be an easier way...
A plug-n maybe?
A good example of what I am trying to accomplish is the look of the typeface Art Stamp.
Thanks

scan old paper, blank pages that have been through a xerox, crumpled paper, i.e
scan it, bring into PS then use levels, threshold, brightness/contrast.
bring into streamline or use trace in CS2 then dirty that mother up.

I use a filter called Machine Wash II.
Actually it's an PS Action so you'd have to export you illy doc as a layers psd.

i like bitmapped tiffs too. it's loads of fun to make...
the easiest way it to print an entire page of jet black ink and crumple it up in certain ways and make sure you have clean white creases in it and scan.
reverse/grayscale/bitmap
done.
