i have a problem.
i don't have much in my checking account. i moved way too much into the saving and stocks... i don't wanna take them out.
oh, also i keep buying shit. i need to control myself.
- JazX0
that was my problem when I lived in NYC tk

there is a magical force in nyc that sucks your money when you are not looking.
how do you invest in stocks? i was thinking about getting into something other then standard savings. i set up an orange savings acct (ing direct) a month ago...
- tkmeister0
i have automatic monthly transfer from checking to ameritrade, also to ing direct orange.
i usually set a financial goal for the year and try to save as closely as i can. this year, i am raising the bar and going for saving 25% of my income. last year, i did well, so i made about 20-30% interest on my stock investment.
then i just lost a grand in one stock. i am pissed i diddn't wait to buy till it hit lower. but oh well, fuck it.

ok

tk, how do you manage your stocks? how do you pick which ones to buy and keep on top of it? i have heard it really requires alot of time during the day to watch market and research things before either buying or selling.

i've got $40 to my name and $400 in bills right now.
fun!

ask jazx for stock tips! haha
i follow my stocks everyday pretty much. most of my stocks are invested in big companies for long term. so i am not so concerned about daily change unless it drops like 5%. u can actually set the trigger so when price drop below set parameters, it'll sell for you or have it email to you.
also, when you join an online brokage, there's all these info available to you. so it'll list analyst ratings and etc.
- JazX0
hahhaa tkmeister, I have been losing money as of late :(
I use e*trade
https://us.etrade.com/e/t/invest…
pretty much straightforward on everything. A buddy of mine works as a broker on Madison Avenue, well former roomate in NYC in Queens, but he made it much bigger now. Gives me tips from his boss, etc. Kinda' sneaky bad but whatever.
I try and keep things 'diversified'.

i started jihading in my spare time last year to start up some cash flow.

I use http://www.scottrade.com $7 trades = good. Plus they have an office right across the street if I need to talk to them.
You guys watch madMoney with jim cramer... hes funny, and he gives some good tips. Just do your research before really getting into what hes saying. Hes far from perfect and it is gambling basically. I almost got into RHEO when it was trading at 11/share, now its 4/shart... damn you cramer!

$400 in bills that are late is bad, though. i'm just between shit now and clients haven't paid up. waiting on $1300 from two different sources. lame.

Yeah, we've got that force in Toronto as well. Probably not as bad but somedays I'll leave the house for about ten mintues, come home 100bucks lighter and not know what the hell I bought. Crazy thing that invisible cash vacuum.
