It's been close to 6 years since I've been around webdesign, and back in 2001 it was very different: very experimental designers, it was all about flash, surfstation, K10k, etc. Now the names of on the edge designers belong to the Standards bloggers, CSS is the new flash, and everything looks like a PS template with lots of content...
What the hell happenend? is this evolution?

You're not looking hard enough. That crazy shit is still out there, still flash, still fun. You're just looking in the wrong places.

What happened is people got smarter and designers didn't.

(Feb 6 06, 01:58)Don't be so bitter moth. I'm sure you could design something if you really tried.

haha.
But it was all fussy intro pages and dial-up connections. Yea it looked cool, but you had to wait 15 minutes to see the site. That's what changed it. If broadband had arrived sooner it might have been different but it didn't. Users were already pissed off with it.
