It sucks.
Moving to Chicago was the best thing I've ever done.
I lived in the suburbs in between Dallas and Ft. Worth, went to college in Arlington which is just about between the two.
If you like driving all over the damn place, crowded parking lots, sports bars, horrible traffic, egotistical cops, a crap music scene, lots of nu-metal, girls with a twang who couldn't name the living US presidents, country music loving jocks, and lots and lots of people who base their whole life on how much they can look better than everyone else...
you're gonna love the place!

And no offense to people living there. :)
But watching Dallas get smaller in the rear view mirror was an awesome experience. Right up there with losing my virginity, going to Paris for the first time, snowboarding in Colorado, and meeting Tony Hawk when I was 11.

Lots to do... the women are beautiful.... although I can't say much about the design scene. I left the big D back in 2003. I'll go visit in april though

Other than the cold winters, I think Chicago is about as perfect of a city as can be made (except for San Francisco).

I'd advise against Dallas unless you're cutting your teeth in the design scene. There are good opps there but they top out quickly as you gain experience. I just left there for Santa Fe, NM and I must agree with mg33 that seeing it get smaller in the rear view mirror was a highlight of my experience there. Don't get me wrong, great people and great work but the quality of life there is not the best. Life's too short.

The only great people I know in the DFW area are my family and friends, and the cast of The Hardline on the Ticket, who I am listening to at this very moment for the first time in more than 4 years.
It's like discovering a long lost friend.
