What is the difference between the two? CSS2 obviously has added selectors, etc., but does CSS2 only work with the latest browsers...how do you distinguish between the two?
thanks.

uhhhh, really? so, is each one browser dependent?

no, the w3c keeps making new specs. each version adds new features, like pseudo selectors.
css2 is not supported by pcie, so it aint a good idea to count on it.TR1

Ill tell you what the similarities are....nethier do what you want them to do cross browser!!!
If W3C had bothered to get of their ass and find out what was needed in the first place, we wouldnt be struggleing like we do. No thought was put in to the standards what so ever which is why css3 will be rendered usless and we can start learning css4.
From a dev point of view there is no point in using css3, cos nothing will support it for a good few years.
FF is supposed to be the css friend, but it is s-l-o-w, and we still have to build for 80% ie users. What works in ie you can be damn sure it wont work in ff. Why build for the minority?

Oh, shit so it's W3C's fault to try and lay down standards. Not Microsoft making their own rules "cause they can"!!
Silly me I knew IE was doing it all right

Only if you don't understand the differences. All my sites work fine across browsers it's just I.E that doesn't play by the rules
