Very, very sorry for you and your friend's family. I'm glad they could be there with him, as a family.

Just finished reading all the comments and want to second the "Thanks for sharing this." I lost my dear grandmother in December and this makes me remember her life and think about my own. There's an old Hebrew proverb that says, "It's better to be in the house of sorrow, than the house of joy."
I don't think I'll read another thread today.
