will this be enough power to run all the usual creative programs?
im choosing the 12 for its portability. naturally, i will be maxing out the ram, and a secondary monitor will soon follow.

Get a 15 inch mac book instead. Perfectly portable.

i read that 1st gen macbook do not support the creative suite. u have to run an emulated os for it to run . with that, the programs will also run a lot slower. true?

true, until adobe update CS.

Technically, it isnt the MacBook that is the problem, its CS2, that isnt yet available in a native version for the Intel chip... once Adobe does a Universal version, it will run real fast... depends if you want to get a MacBook before the Adobe apps are updated, and put up with slightly slower speeds running under Rosetta...

wouldnt jump on the 12...
i have the 15, i know the macbook pro is the way to go.the 12 will likely be discontinued, and adobe will be dropping a universal version of cs2 soon i am sure. they have to. too many creatives waiting on that.
buying an old machine new doesnt make much sense... the 12 is nice and portable, but is missing alot that the 15 has... even the last gen. i would jump on the new macbook pro and use rosetta with cs2 until the universal comes out in a month or 2.

the macbook probably wont be able to run cracked software... that could be a problem ;)

its just a processor.
pcs run cracks.
im sure this time next year, there will be even more mac cracks than there is now.
rosetta makes all things run on this osx... hopefully the cracks too lol! just kidding.

I have a 12 and a 15. I prefer the 12 for taking on the road and it runs CS2 and final cut no problem.

I think Adobe CS software is supposed to run slightly slower than the current PBs out, which runs plenty fast, (I have a 15" highres). I would go for the MacBook. It'll benefit you more in the long run once all the processor-intensive software is no longer emulated.
Or just wait till the summer for speed boosts and fixes in the hardware.
