I know there's been an online battle between Usability and Creativity. I woud just like the opinion of the QBN community.

i look at fashionable girls. they wear heels. are they comfortable? no, but sure they look good in heels.
sometimes, aesthetics can over-ride usability.
why do i always make analogy relating to women...

tkmeister, your girls in heels example is interesting...heels were never designed to be comfortable. their purpose is to make women taller, appearing more slim. as well as to pump up their calves. so, the function of the design is fullfilled, and they can look good...if the function was comfort then they fail horribly. I guess that's where those idiotic ball-boots come in...you know, the ones that have furry nuts hanging off them - I hate those things.

design and aesthetics don't mix. just use one of those withouth minding the other you left out.

why would usability be having a battle with creativity? dont they get on with each other?

both.
Great article posted here before that talks about how quickly someone decides they like the site or not...

...and then if you can't find anything people leave.
I think web usability is in it's infancy just as grid/table sites once where. Product design is a great example of the combination of usability and design and if done successfully... you get an ipod.

I think usability and aesthetics don't have to be polarised into distinct and seperate roles.
whatever it is, it has to be usable or people won't use it (not neccesarily everyone - your target market, or target group etc.)
Aesthetically, it also has to appeal to the same market/group or they won't use it either.
In the Ipod example, if it was only made in barbie pink, you'd see a lot less guys around with ipods, but it still has great usability.
It's not one or the other, it's both.
