i just found out something really useful to speed up teh old bitch
set the
user>lib>safari>icons
folder to read-only (after emptying it) and safari can't store the stupid favicons anymore.. every restart with a fresh browser
cheers
[just wanted to let people know cause my safari is such a snail these days]

really thats it? erasing all the files in the icons folder?

after erasing set it to "read-only", so safari can't store the lil fuggers
thats the trick

I fail to see how this would speed it up

if you have a lot of favicons, safari takes some tiime to search and find the right favicon to match the site you are opening, but the difference in speed is so minimal that the sacrifice of being unable to identify different sites on you bookmarks list is not even worth it for me.
I would though, appreciate other tips in hopes to speed it up if anyone knows..

not really a speed up, I agree.. rather a trick not to speed down
thats icon folder can get few mbs big, then your browsing experience is closer to sleeping than the usual thrill
you get it
