Greetings PVN-lings, -_MU_- here with a Quark shorcut question.
Wondered if any of you could help me. In InDesign, you know you can click an object while holding down ALT to drag a duplicate copy of said object off to one side? Well, my question is: Is there a similar shortcut in QuarkXPress 6?

Best shortcut for Quark:
Apple + Q
drag application to trash, start up InDesign!

quark ruined my life, but here's an answer – apple + D will duplicate or step and repeat a selected object.
On the subject of applications, can you flip images horizontally in pictures in InDesign like you can do in Quark?

quark has its issues, but I swear most of the people that bitch about quark have barely used it, or at least, dont know how to use it properly.
this is not aimed at anyone here, just speaking generally

My compliments on your use of the word "quixotic." :)

My thoughts exactly. Adobe has a suite of productas that are made to work together. Quark needs to hit the showers. I've used an older version of it and find InDesign to be much more intuative and much more like the other design programs I use, the reason is, it was made by the same people.I'm aware that I'm being an unhelpful b-hole. Sorry for that.

I totally agree with the anti-quark sentiment. But the reality of the situation is that there are many places in which it is still the industry standard, particularly large companies with in house creative departments. So in order to exchange work with clients, one still has to deal with it.
Sorry, more unhelpful bullshit. Just empathizing. :/

I'm pretty positive that you can. When you have an image in an image box, there is a toggle switch to go back and forth between editing the box or editing the image. I believe therein lies the ticket.

I know what you mean harlequino, but in either mode your only transform options are Move, Scale, Rotate & Shear.
If you have a way though I would like to know.

Kind of an odd shortcut, but this works:
Select the image box, and toggle for editing the image only.
In the scale percentage boxes up top, enter "-100%" for horizontal only.
Might be bass-ackwards, but that works for me.

nice - good trick.
