Hi people, upon recommendation, I purchased 1gig of RAM for iMac (2 x 512MB), only to find that there is 1 slot for me to add the RAM. I notice that on the Apple site it says that my particular model has the ability to upgrade to a max. of 1 gig of RAM, how so when I can only purchase in 512MB for my model.
Anyway, is there a way to replace the RAM that came with the iMac, this is hidden away under an extra base which I can't get to, to I need a special tool to open this, it looks like a star shape screw, but a phillips doesn't seem to fit.
Arrggh help...
Thanks.

Thanks there matey, found an excellent link, here it is if anyone else is interested, seems pretty simple for RAM upgrades, goes into more detail for other upgrades....

You need to get yourself some Torx screwdrivers if you feel brave enough to open it up. I think they recommend that the first slot RAM is upgraded by a specialist though.

if only! you would have thought in this day and age all the component parts would just slot and pop in and out, no fiddly srews and cramped corners.
one day we'll finally catch up with the future!
