please have a look at this site: www.southwoodstables.co.uk and tell me if because of the aspx (rates / events) pages it has a databse attached. The owner has asked me to change host and the current designer has provided me with all pages (no database) but i have a feeling if i move it - it will break...

there's no way to tell without looking at the actual aspx code whether there's a database or not but chances are there is... have you asked your client if he has a CMS?

The client is able to login to change certain pages - so yeah I guess that a CMS yeah?

Yes.
You'd need a dump of the database, and an ASP server ready to go.

It's dynamic content of some sort, either database or xml. so you would need to move that data to the new host as well.

yeah, and chances are that there's a database that holds the content for those pages.
The designer does have the right not to give your client the database so your client may have to come to some sort of arrangement to move the site, CMS and database..
