anyone got any ideas for a good clean font for a web menu, nothing too small and pixel based.

Surely this would depend on so many more factors, aka, what font is used in the branding of the company the site is for, is there a font used elsewhere on the site, is it a modern or traditional style that your working in????????????

text? or graphics?
if graphics I would defginately recommend fette fraktur, always good, no matter the content. if html text I find that comic sans works really well at 16px, give it a bash, after all it's far more accessible :)
