  but maybe you should learn C++ for desktop apps, so you have a completely different tool.

  While ASP.NET and PHP operate completely differently, they're meant for the same purposes.

  Lots of windows application developers are moving away from C++ towards C# anyway.

  Learning C# will let you do web or desktop design.
