I have a La Pavoni, it makes fine coffee and you can do your steamed milk and stuff, not that I ever do as I am too lazy. If you are after coffee it only holds enough water for two cups though, but plenty for espresso shots. Not sure if mines the same model, I've had it a few years and its still going strong.

I make mine stovetop, but if I could afford it, I would do it right.

and no I didn't pay any money for mine, was a gift from ma as she bought it cheap in Italy and it only got used when I would visit.

there's something about the classic industrial look i really love.
my kitchen isn't that big. maybe i'd have to wait till i get a house one day.
i used to work in the office where they had the machine. i really enjoyed making my own cappuccino.
making a good espresso/cappuccino is the work of art.

I married a coffee shop girl, we have a Krups Novo 3000. It's simple enough for me to operate.

Try the Nespresso machine:

the La Pavoni is one of the few machines that uses a piston (the big handle) to extract the coffee. Most others use a steam/pressure method that as hard as they try will not release the sugars from the coffee and get you the crema aka caramelized sugars.

TheDeadandGone has just made me weak in the knees....
La Pavoni makes a beautiful machine and has even better engineering to back it up. I owned a 24 year old single-pull model and it worked like it was day one until the inside coroded due to bad water (long story).

I just gotta have one of these!
