they are decent likes.
a proper band driven by their fanbase rather than the media.
they started off as a band with a myspace page and built a huge following on there. they toured round the country affirming with their fanbase that they kicked ass playing live and their first single was released because of the demand from their myspace fanbase.
their single hit the charts because of the sheer amount of sales and not because of media hype.
they are now being bombarded with magazines and tv trying to get interviews with them and they are knocking them back because they feel themselves that they are being too much overhyped (*cough* coldplay *cough*).
i think both their music (with the northern accent - which shows they are not trying to be a 'cool' london guitar-fad band) and their attitude is that of a good rocknroll band with their feet firmly on the ground.
their music and lyrics are also satisfyingly refreshing.
my lil bro is an editor for a uk music mag and i always have debates about all these 'guitar fad' bands that seem to be around - all sounding the same and all not doing anything new.
this aint the case with the arctic monkeys. i think theyre pretty shit-hot , especially for a bunch so young. i dont think they are a fad - i think theyre gonna be around for a long long time and will continue to pump out good shit.what a rant!
