I have the Canon Pixma 5000. Absolutely the best printer I've owned. Prints 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 and 8.5x11 borderless... I even found a hack to make it print directly on cd's.

i forgot to mention that the i9900 prints up to 13" x 19"... b i g

yeah me too. trying to convince the agency to buy one. it's between $500-600 bucks compared to $1500 for a comparable epson.

I've been using this for the last 6 months and still am surprised at the quality. It's a Konica/Minolta color laser for about $350 US

It prints on damn near any surface, quickly giving fantastic results even on all of the inkjet photo gloss I had laying around. Only 8.5 x 11 no full bleed though.
One beef is my print dialog boxes are all in spanish..but i need to brush up on mi español anyway.

I have been using an epson 2200 - you have to know what you are doing with profiles and such, but once you get that down, it makes great prints.
I got mine for around $700, it prints up to 13" wide - very comparable to the Canon - many would argue much better.

i got canon pixma ip4000. a bit cheaper than 5000. for what i do, i couldn't tell that much of quality difference between 4000 and 5000. a very good printer for its price.

i've had the epson r2400 for a little over a month. like planet01 said, you have to use the right profiles and good paper, but the results are really fantastic. the ink cartridges last longer than i expected; i just replaced the first one after a month of printing like crazy. you can find it online for around $800. definately check it out before you pick up the canon.
