does anyone know of any opensource cms that outputs clean xml.

TYPO3 (http://www.typo3.org) can output XML. But you'll need your time to get to know the system. It's huge!!!!

well I need one with a directory module and ranking module , like you see at digital city
something that can show a list of venues and then a details page where users can comment and rank on thier expreience at these places .. might just need to have it custom made .. but just asking for pre-builds to save time .. thanks for any info

well, the dude i emailed you about for the PHP help has a module very well developed that could definitly handle this. it is built upon a really flexible data model that is lightweight and fully XML compliant as well.
best part is there is zero interface to it so you can put whatever display you like on it.

hmmmm i like the sound of that

mambo is basically dying. it is still avaiable but all the developers left over differences of data modeling philosophies.
http://www.joomla.org is their new endever. waaaaaay lighter in model and more flexible. Mambo can be good if you really do not want to manipulate the structure, but is a nightmare if you want to touch that in any way.....
