I'm a recent graduate (BA - Graphic Design) from Phoenix, and I don't know how much to ask for.
I'm asking because a company called me today and asked me to redesign a couple of nightclub/restaurant sites. For freelance, should I charge by the hour? If so, how much? (They're just basic flash sites). I was thinking somewhere around $25-30/hr. Does this sound right for Phoenix?
Also, if they like the work I do they'll consider hiring me full-time. So what are you Phoenix people making these days?
If it matters... I feel my design work is above average compared to most graduates.
Thanks

sure get what you can get
but its high for recent grad to get that much

sounds about right to me that rate..

I would say that is a decent rate for phoenix. Definitely charge by the hour.

thats a good rate for a freelancer that is not a senior for that area.

$25-30/h sounds right. thats what I charge. even do I am not in Phoenix or a recent graduate. Sometimes, a flat fee could work also. =o)

Ok, I just e-mailed them back with a $29/hr fee. *Hope they agree.
Another question: What are you freelancers w/ 5+ yrs experience charging?? I assume if it was freelance for design companies then the fee would be pretty consistent, but for an actual client it would all be relative (eg. Joe's Pub = $30/hr, Nike = $90/hr). Am I right?

i've met many freelancers with 5+ yrs experience who sucked really bad. so it really depends how good you are.
it can range from $50/hr to $200/hr. i change my fee based on the project type too.

those are hourly wages.Who's got a real damn salary with a contract.

I'd say that if your freelance rate is X an hour you could probably get a little above X thousand a year.
ie: 30/hour
35k /yearI'm just guessin

When I was working freelance, I charged $120 CDN per hour...
Anything lower than $75 seems to be bringing down the professional average... don't you think?
