Has anyone in web design ever worked somewhere that pays part of your salary and in commission bonuses for completing objectives? What do you think of it?

never heard of that for a salaried designer – what's the percentage of guaranteed vs. bonus compensation?
And what sort of 'objectives' are they talking about? Are they clearly outlined?

performance goal
1-7% of your yearly salaryobjective goal (product based)
3-5% of your contribution (billing hours) to the projectthis is on top of your normal salary rate
this is relative mainly in managment consultants

I would think that it should be on top of your regular salary. Not to hope to fulfill them to make what they considered the fair market rate salary. The place I am referring to had the base salary 8K under what they consider the fair market rate and the rest in commisions.
