Can anyone recommand a book on Photoshop. Not a tutorial book. An in-depth look at the tool(s) what they do and how they work. I want to get a better understanding.

best way to learn photoshop is to try stuff out
or
watch what other designer do it
http://studio.adobe.com/us/searc…
they have pretty good resources in text and QT format

i agree with try stuff out but watching someone do something is more helpfull if hes doing what i want to do, dont get me wrong videos are great way to learn but they are more video tutorials unless they discuss the tools in-depth im more interested in what each tool does and the workings of it... but a more in-depth look at it since I dont understand a few tools as much as I would like to. thanks for the link and advice will check it out.

take a hands on course taught by adobe certified trainers if you're starting out. You can flesh out the rest later.
