sorry im a nut.
just got the XT, how come in Manual mode, the aperture doesn't let me go all the way up to 2.8 or whatever thats the biggest? like sometimes the biggest is 5, then switches to something else....
i think i know why this is, but not sure how to fix it..

aperture depends on the lens focal length.

Are you sure it's not your zoom? If you zoom out fully you usually lose a half stop or more.
Don't know why it would do it for manual mode though.

... meaning if you have a zoom/ telephoto lens mounted, the apertures available are going to be limited by whatever focal length you have the lens extended to.
