not with a new graphics card?

not sure about a new graphics card, but i used this desktop extender for my ibook.
i have an older 17" monitor that i hooked up to the ibook for extra space. normally it would just mirror the ibook and still be at a 1024x768 resolution.
with the extender it adds the other monitor as more space, so i have the ibook running 1024x768 and the external monitor running 1280x1024. much better.

there are two parts of it to install, i only installed the extender. works wonderful.

e-pill. i would look into that link i posted.
not sure how old of an ibook it covers but it really works well.

your iBook screen is made up by 1024x768 small squares full of small light bulbs.
not a chance.... ever!

the screen res on the monitor (not xternal) is customed to the screen itself, any other res will look like crap on it.

what designerror said basically :)

agree tomkat.. the screen would get blurry if you could change it to a higher res.
