I'm a big fan of muscle cars, but in this day and age of Oil shortages and wars over resources, isn't there some kind of weird disconnect between the US auto industry and reality? I mean moreso than usual...
- F_180
yes, but they don't seem to care very much.

i believe that comes in v-6 and v-8 models like the charger does.

still Kona, the rest of the world is working on fuel efficiency and 60% of GM's cars as still SUV's.
Something is going on there.

this could get ugly

gm is going down the tubes and they know it.
they know they are not going to resurrect themselves with a hybrid anytime soon. so their solution? the mid life crisis of a growing number of men in the u.s.
it's their only hope.
and. if anyone read the article. it's a concept car.
- ********0
it got ugly already

They made the PT Cruiser right?
"worst, car, EVERRR"
- mrdobolina0
nah that is chrysler. its a neon with a wide body.

Alright. Anyway, back on topic - there is definitely a disconnect.
It's kind of a bit polar here in Canada. I snicker at people who drive those shit Hummers (really just a body on an SUV chassy)
but there's probably an equal amount of people (mostly from Alberta, I know because I grew up there) who would snicker at a smart car and call it gay.

from most canadians I have met, they are not much different than the people I know that live in the northern part of the US. They just react to their politicians.
while Im here...
I have noticed from my limited scope of canadian politicians is that they are generally more concerned with the people, whereas US politicians are serving corporations, whether that politician is right or left, but generally leaning to the right. There are definitely going to be some exceptions to this but, you know. America is the home of tons of corporations and capitalism, so there ya go.
This also tells you why you get a tax break for buying a hummer in this country and not a tax break if you buy a fucking bus pass.

it's not the manufacturers I'm sure they are well aware of the problems we face. It's the car buying American public that are disconnected from reality.

Blame American consumers, they're the ones who fork out 35-45k for throw-back styled large sedans and 5500 lb. SUVs.
