i have a home cinema setups, high res projector, 7 b&w speakers etc.. and it all runs of my pc.. however i only have the crappy onboard sound.. how much difference does the sound card make?? also does anyone know any good windows software for playing dvds?
i am sure lots of you uber designers have some sexy cinema setups.

when you have invested in all those things it wouldnt hurt getting a seperate soundcard.. will probably give you slightly better sound depending on what you have, I have a 5.1ssystem with my onboardsoundcard its ok but I`ve been wanting to buy this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr…BlueGears/HDA Digital XMYSTIQUE7.1 mostly because it can stream 5.1 from any source like games and music through SPDIF/coaxial so its a Dolby Digital Live card which Creative doesnt have at all!
but cant buy it here in sweden yet.. only some countries in europe. windvd should be good for playing dvds but I use Medaiplayerclassic for everything..

oooooh can she get me some speakers? i've got some B&W 704's and want the 705's for rear speakers. in answer to your question, you must must buy a 5.1 separate. your pc is just not good enough!

i have a high res projector hooked up to sony 5 speakers dvd player and cable box.
lately, the sony dvd player is making a some buzzing noise. and thinking to get a better set up.

imadesigner do you mean plug the amp directly into the projector? all this audio stuff its lost on me.. for a year we have had all this gear pointing at a 17inch pc monitor!!
we have two prototypes for the rear (massive things, much bigger than anything they sell)
two 803Ds at the front, HTM4S center and a PV1 bass .. not sure what the middles are.
