i've been contemplating quitting and going back to personal training.
my wife makes almost double what i do, if not some months triple.
i would maybe still freelance in my spare time but as of late freelance has been sucking too. i've had lately some pretty nasty clients who are unwilling to pay top dollar for a top site. so, they've been getting what they pay for and it's doing nothing for my portfolio.
:(
and i'm sick today. i think the flu. fuckin gross.

Want to set up my own indoor tennis court business with a partner. Building is a dump now, but would fit three courts. We'd charge $25/hr for the courts. Generally, they are fully booked so would be nice to get that ~$75/hr business running.

i wanna make chairs..
who wants to make chairs with me?
- todelete__20
jazx.
i (long ago) used to persona train at a place with 6 tennis courts. all day, packed. also, teachers would rent the court and have lessons going on. which would be an extra fee on top of the per hour fee.

kOna, I know man, we'd have tournaments and such too. Such a solid investment IMO, plus I have a love for tennis and can use the courts when I wanted. It's not in the greatest of neighborhoods, but it's up and coming. There are no indoor courts in a 20 mile radius. It's just getting the 150K or so we need to buy the building and fix it up. I have good credit, but Ughhh... I guess I can always claim bankruptcy..?

kOna,
what does your wife do?jazx,
are you looking for a partner?dinky,
i'd make chairs with you!
- JazX0
tkmeister, I'm looking for investors and have a partner, but man I would love to do something like this in the coming months. Quit my 925 crapoid job and be my own boss with a healthy business. pun intended! ;)

yeah, having your own biz that drives a lot of income and has not much to do with design maybe a way to go for some people.
you can always do design work as a hobby.
i can go that path or do that whole corporate ladder thing in an ad agency go up to be ECD, etc...
as for now, i am keeping all the options out and open.

I'll always use my knowledge of design, business and marketing to push any venture I'll have. It's useful.

tkmeister,
"kOna,
what does your wife do?"she was working at a top 10 fitness company in the u.s. as the head of personal training, but it was too much business and red tape and not enough personal training for her. so she quit and went to lifetime fitness which i think is top 5, if not top 3 in the u.s. as a personal trainer. in 4 months being there she is already booked solid and the top money maker. she makes quite a bit per hour, and 20% off of everything she sells. last week she sold about $28,000 in personal training.
- todelete__20
oops. i meant she gets 20% of everything she sells.
she also gets 30% off of all supplements and clothing. (which is nice for me too)
and i get a free membership so i bypass the sign up fee and 50 bucks a month dues.
yay kona.
